Synopsis for Oracle Discoverer 11g Desktop Training Course

Oracle Discoverer Desktop, the other way of viewing the Database, the other being Discoverer Plus (which we also have a course for you), learn one and effectively you learn the other, there is very little difference between the two other than the Desktop is installed on the client machine, the Plus is run via a Browser and a URL. For Plus to run, the system must have an Application System middle tier software available, this tends to be used when Discoverer is rolled out to more than let's say 10 people in the Organisation or when its more convenient not have software installed on an individual's machine.

When we present the Discoverer Plus course we bring two Database machines, one with the Oracle Database machine running, the other with Application System middleware, the Desktop is therefore slightly easier to set up … but we don’t mind, you tell us which version you want presented and we'll bring the necessary equipment.

Oracle Discoverer Desktop is one of over 170 courses we can give at your venue, at our venue in Swansea and we can also arrange a training room at a conference centre near your if there isn’t a room available. This page relates to the Discoverer Desktop 11g version, we can supply a training course for versions right back to 3.1 if that’s required, you just have to let us know at the time of booking.

This is a two day course, we start each day at 9am and finish at around 4.15pm, we are very flexible with start times so if you have delegates who normally start later let us know and our Consultant can have half an hour extra in bed, we are equally flexible with finish times, if some Delegates need more time to complete the end of day exercise our Consultant will remain until everyone is happy, sometimes it’s a little like the kids in Sound Of Music waving goodbye and disappearing but we don’t mind … as long as everyone is happy.

Each Delegate on every course we give, gets to use an individual Workstation with a copy of the comprehensive Manual which is theirs to keep after the course, if any of the Delegates need a Discoverer Administrator course as well, we do recommend slotting it in the same week as the Desktop / Plus course, User course Monday to Tuesday, Administration course Wednesday to Friday, talk to our Training Advisor regarding booking these together.

Many people before booking ask whether the course is suitable for beginners, and the answer for this and the Discoverer Plus course is a resounding 'yes', and it's also doesn’t matter of there is a mixture of skills on the course, our Consultants make the course interesting for all and we encourage interaction, so if the Delegates have questions to ask we answer them straight away or postpone them if the answers are coming up later in the course anyway. If there are some people on the course who more knowledge of the product than others then they get more tasks to perform in the exercises, this course as you will see from the index which is available on the page that we have lots of exercises for the Candidate to get their teeth into the product.
