Synopsis for Oracle Discoverer 11g Administrator Training Course

Do you know how many times I've typed Discoverer? even as a touch typist it seems like a difficult word to type, first I typed Discover, then Discovery then Evoque!! I almost typed in the entire Range Rover range!

So what is Discoverer? Oracle Discoverer has been around for many years, it is a GUI interface with an Oracle Database to provide Users access to information without needing an Oracle Developer to produce a report or an extract for them.

There are essentially two parts to Oracle Discoverer, the Administration and the User part. The User side of Administrator splits into two products, identical in their output except one is based within a browser (Discoverer Plus) and the other is installed on the client (Discoverer Desktop).

Discoverer Administrator is client based and installed on a PC, this course assumes that the Delegates have had either the Discoverer Desktop or Plus courses so that they can appreciate what the 'front end' looks like to the Users, it's like designing a car, if you can drive, you appreciate better the needs of an automobile driver. This version is the 11g but we can also supply training in any of the older versions of Discoverer, use our Menu system to navigate to the version you require.

The purpose of Discoverer Administrator is to create the link between the User and the Database, the link is termed the End User Layer and this can be made a quite simple and rudimentary affair but the thing is, the cruder the EUL the harder the User will need to work in order to get the information they require from the Oracle Database. We therefore preach the gospel of excellent EUL creation, throughout the course we develop a series of techniques in each option so that the Administrator creates an End User Layer which is easier to use for the Discoverer User.

So who makes a good Discoverer Administrator? It a lot of ways someone who knows what the Business requires for Information, the structure of the tables can be obtained from a Database Developer, the technique is knowing how to present the data to the User, in some cases a fledgling Administrator would benefit from one of our Essential Oracle 18c SQL training course so that they can understand how tables and indexes are structured. We would also recommend the Delegate attend the Discoverer Desktop course before taking this one so that they understand the front end being used by the User.

The course is a three day event, the Desktop or Plus course is two day, therefore they could both be completed in the same week, not necessarily by all the people attending the first two days but certainly it makes sense to do the courses over the same week.

The Discoverer courses like all one hundred of our courses are available onsite at your venue or we can arrange a suitable location close to your place of work or you can come to us, when we present this course we bring all of the equipment needed for the duration, we don’t need to access your Database or Network, we don’t even need Wi-Fi connection.

All of our courses start at 9am or at a time suitable for your Delegates, you tell us … you can even pick the start date, there are no minimum or maximum numbers for delegates and we can even offer one on one training if you just need to get a new member of the team up to speed.

Our contact details are plastered all over these pages, get in touch, our training advisors will be happy to advise and give you a no obligation free quotation.
